My Favorite Book

Feminine Appeal (New Expanded Edition with Questions)

Hands down this is my favorite book about being a wife and mother. Carolyn Mahaney is gracious and encouraging, but also straight forward and to the point. She is unapologetic about biblical womanhood, but when you read her book you don't feel as if you're being condemned. Instead it feels like sitting down for coffee with an older and wiser woman.

When I first read Feminine Appeal I was about a month away from marrying Erik(almost six years ago!). Up until that point I had thought that the scriptures pertaining to men and women were out dated, and didn't need to be taken seriously. But God used this book to open my eyes to His beautiful plan. He never changes, so why would I think His Word would change?

It's a short and fairly simple book to read. Carolyn devotes a chapter to each principle found in Titus 2, and gives simple explanations and real life examples for each quality. I've read through this book at least ten times since becoming a wife and a mother, and each time I have found it encouraging and my vision of who God has called me to be has been restored.

What are some of your favorite books on marriage and motherhood?

(I am not an affiliate with amazon or girltalk blogs. I just really like talking about books!)
