Some Thoughts..

I've recently been enjoying some good conversations on parenting  that I don't want to forget. And since I don't want to forget, I'm going to post them on this blog so maybe the rest of you can enjoy some of the points of these discussions. :)

1. Point them to Jesus. All. The. Time. When they are obeying tell them how thankful you are that God is working in them. When they aren't obeying remind them that without Jesus it's absolutely impossible to obey. We all need a Savior. 

2. We shouldn't take it personally when our children don't obey, and if we do then we need to stop, pray, and get our hearts right before we deal with that child.

3. Pray. Pray with your children and pray for your children. Teach them to pray. Teach them that when they are having trouble loving their brother(or sister) that Jesus is always there to help them.

4. Praise them. Encourage them. Even when you're in the middle of correcting a child encourage them. Remind them whose image they were created in and how very loved they are.

Now you can see why I wanted to write these thoughts down and share them with you all. :) I am definitely not perfect in any of these and I mess up all the time. I'm so thankful for the wisdom of others who are willing to encourage me as I try to raise and disciple my children well.
